Take the color out of Roseto and the relief becomes the entire design. White glaze over embossed stoneware reads as texture rather than as pattern, which is why this colorway behaves like plain white dinnerware while looking like rather more than that. Four settings: 10.75-inch dinner plates, 8.5-inch accents, 14-ounce bowls, dishwasher and microwave safe.
Texture doing a pattern’s job
On white, the embossed work shows as light and shade rather than contrast. A border appears when the plate is turned and recedes when it is set down flat. That gives a neutral set a reason to be looked at without committing the whole table to a color decision.
The case for white, again
White dinnerware mixes with whatever comes next: a colored accent plate, inherited china, the serving bowl a guest arrives holding. Nothing has to be matched to it, which is how white services outlive most of the decorating decisions made around them.
Weight and the dishwasher
Stoneware runs heavier than porcelain and a stack of four 10.75-inch plates makes that obvious on the way to the table. The compensation is sturdiness, plus clearance for both dishwasher and microwave, so daily use costs nothing in extra care or separate handling.
