The Vintro Halloween pair is a costume for the serving bowl: two salad servers with skeleton handles, made from aluminum and finished in black satin lacquer. Each measures 12 inches, long enough to work a deep bowl from the edge of a crowded table. They are hand wash only, which is the trade for the finish.
Satin black, not glossy black
A satin lacquer absorbs light instead of bouncing it back, so the bones read as bones under candles rather than as shiny plastic. Twelve inches gives the silhouette enough length to be legible from the far side of the table, where most of the party is standing anyway.
Aluminum keeps the reach light
Aluminum weighs less than the stainless in everyday flatware, so a 12-inch server stays manageable at the far end of its reach rather than tipping out of the hand. The softer metal also takes lacquer evenly, which is what keeps the detail in the skeleton handles crisp instead of filled in.
Hand wash means hand wash
Detergent and heat are hard on aluminum and harder on a lacquered surface, and the black would not last many cycles in the machine. Rinse the pair at the sink, dry it, and it goes back into the Halloween box looking the same next October. Seasonal pieces survive on exactly that habit.
