Michelangelo sits at the ornamental end of the catalog, embellished densely enough to pass for inherited sterling from across a room. The two-piece set hands that look to whoever is cutting: a serrated knife for frosting and layers, with a server shaped to match it. Both pieces are mirror-finished 18/10 stainless and go into the dishwasher afterward.
Serration earns its place
A smooth blade drags through buttercream and compresses the crumb underneath. The serrated edge saws instead, so the first slice comes out with its layers standing — which is the slice being photographed. The server slides under it flat and wide enough to carry the whole wedge.
Ornament with mass behind it
Dense pattern work looks cheap on light flatware. Michelangelo is stamped heavy in 18/10 stainless, so the relief has real depth and the handle feels like the silver it imitates. The alloy is impervious to rust, including inside the recesses of the embellishment where water likes to sit.
Cake first, then everything after
The set is sold for weddings and behaves accordingly, but a serrated knife and a flat server keep working long past the reception, at birthdays and holiday tarts. Dishwasher safe is what keeps it out of storage: no hand-drying ritual, so the pair stays in rotation.
