Ornament is the whole point here. A beaded edge wraps the handles, decoration of the old-world sort rather than anything modern, and on a laid table the effect leans closer to a manor dining room than a kitchen island. Forty-five pieces cover eight people with a five-piece serving set on top. An everyday set dressed for something better.
The beaded edge up close
Beading is a row of small raised dots following the outline of the handle, and it does two things at once: it catches light along the whole perimeter, and it gives the fingers a grip that a smooth edge cannot. Countess uses it richly rather than sparingly, which is what pushes the pattern toward opulence.
What the box holds
Eight place settings of five — dinner fork, salad fork, dinner knife, dinner spoon, teaspoon. The other five are servers: serving spoon, pierced serving spoon, sugar spoon, butter knife, serving fork. That is the difference between a table that matches end to end and one that borrows from the utensil crock halfway through dinner.
Ornate, but machine washable
Decorated handles have a reputation for being fussy to clean, and the answer here is the same as for a plain one: 18/0 stainless, specified for everyday durability and rust resistance, and dishwasher safe. No hand-washing ritual, no polish. The opulence is in the shape, not in the upkeep.
